?Before you contact a caterer you should know how formal your wedding and reception will be. The style of your wedding will dictate to a large extent the type of food you server and how it is served.
?When starting to look for a caterer don?t forget to contact friends and family who?s wedding you have attended and enjoyed the food.
?When meeting with prospective caterers tell them the vision you have for the wedding. Ask if they have much experience in the style of wedding you are planning. Most caterers can prepare most anything you want but you will do best not using a meat and potatoes caterer at a very formal wedding.
?Let the caterer make suggestions and se how their vision compares to yours. Don?t limit yourself to only the suggestions made go ahead and look at their menus. Looking at the menus will also give you a feel for what they do the most of.
?The location of your reception may limit your menu also depending on what type of facilities they have. The caterer will need enough room to prepare and store your selected menu items.
?Don?t forget the small print, many things are considered extra by some caterers and not included in the original quote. Ask your prospective caterer exactly what is included in the quote. Does it include things like refilling your guest?s coffee or cutting and serving the cake?
?Ask the caterer if they have their own wait staff or if they hire for each event. Also ask if they are on site and if not who will be in charge.
