?Like everything else the location of your reception should fit the overall style of wedding. You normally would not want to have a formal wedding ceremony then have an informal reception.
?Though it may sound obvious make sure the location is large enough to hold all your guests. It is easy sometimes to be charmed enough by a location to use it even though it may not be large enough.
?Check to see what is provided by the location and what you will need to setup. Does the location provide chairs and tables? Doe they setup the needed chairs and tables or do you? Make sure you know what you will need to do and provide.
?Check the kitchen or lack there of to make sure it will support the amount and type of food your caterer will be serving. You don?t want to be surprised at the last minute by the caterer telling you they can not prepare you dish because the kitchen is inadequate.
?Look at not only the size of the location but the things that could block people views of events. Check the layout of the building or main room to see if it has not only room but if the flow of the room will keep your guest from becoming crowded while moving about.
?How private do you want the event to be? Don?t forget that if you choose a location that is public you may have people watching, congratulating and even joining in.
?Many locations hold more than one event at a time so be sure to ask how well controlled sound is between areas. You do not want to have a karaoke part blaring through the wall during you reception and much less your ceremony!
?Lighting should match the mood of your event so be sure that you can control the lighting in the room.
?Does the location have enough parking or will your guests have to park a block away and walk? If you have found a place you love but it has no parking you will have to decide if it is worth making your guests walk.
